Reünie en powered by GKD-tocht in Ginneken 27 september

De reünie wordt dit jaar wederom gehouden in combinatie met een Powered by wandeltocht. De wandeltocht en de reünie zullen plaatsvinden op zaterdag 27 september 2025 in Breda.

Reünieprogramma

De reünie zal dit jaar een bezoek brengen aan Breda. In het zuiden van Breda ligt de wijk Ginneken. Tot 1942 was Ginneken, in het plaatselijk spraakgebruik ’t Ginneke’ genoemd, een afzonderlijk dorp. Het ligt dichtbij het Mastbos en het Markdal.

De dag begint met ontvangst met koffie en iets lekkers. Tot aan de lunch is het een gezellig samenzijn, of u bekijkt op eigen gelegenheid even wat Ginneken u te bieden heeft. Na de lunch worden we opgehaald door een gids die ons rond zal leiden door Ginneken, waarbij niet alleen de geschiedenis van Ginneken, maar ook de geschiedenis van Breda aan bod zal komen. Aan het eind van de middag gaan we terug naar ons beginpunt, waar we afsluiten met een drankje. Hier worden ook de lustrumbeloningen uitgereikt.

Het programma ziet er als volgt uit (tijden kunnen nog iets wijzigen):

10.30 ontvangst met koffie en appeltaart of een Brabants worstenbroodje bij Boerke Verschuren.

12.30 lunch bij Boerke Verschuren

13.30 begin rondleiding ’t Ginneke door stadsgids

15.30 einde rondleiding

16.00 afsluitende borrel met uitreiking lustrumbeloningen

17.30 einde

De kosten voor deelname aan deze reünie bedragen € 29,50 per persoon voor leden van onze vereniging. Eventuele introducees betalen € 39,50.

Powered by GKD-tocht

De tweede Powered-by wandeltocht van 2025 is de Markdal wandeltocht in Breda. Deze wandeltocht in september wordt, zoals de laatste jaren gebruikelijk is, tegelijk georganiseerd met de reünie en vindt dit jaar plaats in Ginneken (Breda).

De wandeltocht wordt georganiseerd door wandelsportvereniging W.I.E.G.O. (Wandelen Is Een Gezonde Ontspanning). Deze vereniging is opgericht op 6 oktober 1965 en bestaat dus de week na deze tocht al 60 jaar. W.I.E.G.O. organiseert ongeveer 10 wandeltochten per jaar.

Deze tocht vertrekt vanuit het gebouw naast de Protestantse Kerk. Een goede uitvalsbasis om te wandelen in het Mastbos en het Markdal.

Deze vereniging staat er om bekend dat er veel natuur in hun tochten gebruikt wordt. Afhankelijk van de gekozen afstand gaat de route door het Mastbos en het Ulvenhoutsebos, door de villawijk Montenspark, langs het riviertje Aa of Weerijs, door de plaatsjes Effen en Ulvenhout, de natuurgebieden De Krabbenbossen en De Blauwe Kamer, over landgoed Anneville en langs de rivier De Mark.

Daarnaast, vanwege hun 60-jarig bestaan, is er deze keer ook de mogelijkheid om voor een 10 kilometer lange stadswandeling met informatiebeschrijving op papier naar en door het historisch centrum van Breda te kiezen. Dit is ook mogelijk in combinatie met de ‘gewone’ wandeling. Zo kan je bijvoorbeeld als je 20 kilometer wilt wandelen 20 km wandelen door de natuur, maar ook 10 km stadswandeling en 10 km natuur is mogelijk.

Er kan bij deze wandeltocht gekozen worden uit de afstanden 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 en 40 km.

De kosten voor deelname aan deze Powered-by wandeltocht zijn gratis voor leden van onze vereniging. Inschrijven kan door uiterlijk 20 september een mail te sturen naar rino.hamelink@goudenkruisdragers.nl (met naam, geboortedatum, woonplaats en de gekozen wandelafstand én de vermelding als u voor een lustrumbeloning in aanmerking komt).

De vereniging schrijft dan voor u in en maakt het inschrijfgeld over naar de organiserende wandelvereniging. Uiteraard is het bij deze tocht weer mogelijk om te stempelen op uw Powered-by stempelkaart. Deze zijn ook te verkrijgen op het startbureau van deze tocht.

Eventuele medewandelaars dienen op de gewone manier (online voorinschrijven of op de dag zelf op het inschrijfbureau) in te schrijven.

Volgende Powered-by tocht is 2 november. Wij zijn dan te gast bij wandelvereniging Bargermarke in Emmen. Zij organiseren dan de Bargermarketocht en ook zij bestaan dan 60 jaar.

Explanation of the agenda:

Item 7: the concept articles of association will be published on the website well in advance of the members’ meeting, so that members can discuss any adjustments or comments with the board before the members’ meeting. We request all members to cooperate in this to ensure a smooth meeting.

Item 8: Secretary Coert Peeters has announced that he is resigning from his position as board member. The board is nominating Fred Kruijer as a new board member and is continuing to look for another candidate board member.

Item 9: If members have proposals or questions for the board, the board would like to hear from them prior to the meeting, so that we can perhaps respond to a proposal or question immediately. The board requests everyone to submit questions that reasonably require some research, if possible in writing and no later than one week before the meeting, to the secretariat.

The board aims to end the meeting around 3:00 PM.

6525DW Nijmegen. The meeting will start at 14:00 and lasts approximately one and a half hour.

Item 6: Joke Poppe, Jose Honkoop and Martin Pegels formed the finance committee in 2024, with Jos Knooff as reserve member.
The board proposes to maintain this finance committee for 2025.

Item 7: The board proposes to maintain a membership fee of 12 euros in 2025, plus the contribution (if any) to the KWBN.

Item 8: Jaimy Pieterson is retiring and is eligible for re-election for another term as board member. Any member standing for election
must announce this candidacy in writing to the board at least 30 minutes before the start of the meeting, accompanied by at
least ten signatures of members who are eligible to vote.

Item 10: In 2025, the association will designate at least two walks as “powered by GKD” walks (in Emmen and Breda), in which our
members can participate for free and earn a stamp (to qualify for the bronze “powered by GKD” pin with 5 stamps). The board
proposes to organize the reunion in 2025 in Breda at the same time as the second ‘powered by GKD’ walking tour in that year.

The board aims to end the meeting around 3:30 pm. In the evening (around 8:00 PM) we will participate in the Sunset March on the bridge De Oversteek (Winselingseweg/Jan Nieraethstraat, Nijmegen): if you want to join us, please report this in advance via rino.hamelink@goudenkruisdragers.nl.

Informal meeting with DE 4DAAGSE

During our annual informal meeting with Stichting DE 4DAAGSE, we spoke to the Stichting about the past Four Days Marches, where many things went well. In particular, the shortening of the fourth day to prevent walkers suffering heat injuries was successful.

Annoyances that our members indicated, such as people cutting in front of the queue at the starting line, a shortage of ladies’ toilets, the crowds on the course (more exchanged registrations and far fewer dropouts), were also discussed in the Four Days Marches Customer Panel. Moreover, these challenges are also high on the list of DE 4DAAGSE, because they have also noticed them.

DE 4DAAGSE shared a few new plans with us, such as the intention to make more use of existing buildings and less of tents. We were given insight into minor route changes, but we will keep those to ourselves for the time being.

It was a good meeting on both sides and we ended the evening with plans to help each other again with the Flag Parade, with various PR matters and with setting up our Meeting Points!

Vrijwilligers Meeting Points gezocht

De meeste van jullie zullen liefst de 4Daagse meelopen, maar mocht je niet meer wandelen, dan kunnen we jouw hulp goed gebruiken op onze Meeting Points!

Ben je gastvrij, wil je onze leden vriendelijk ontvangen en hen een hapje en drankje aanbieden en kan je wandelaars die het moeilijk hebben aanmoedigen?

Onze vrijwilligers moeten wel in staat zijn om, door de verkeersdrukte heen, de Meeting Points kunnen bereiken: het is dus handig als je uit de buurt komt. Ze zetten de spullen van het Meeting Point klaar (de tent wordt door iemand anders opgebouwd), zijn gastheer of gastvrouw van ongeveer 9.00 tot 16.00 uur en brengen de overgebleven etenswaren en drankjes naar het Meeting Point van de volgende dag.

Familieleden van wandelaars zijn uiteraard ook welkom als bemensing van onze Meeting Points.

Our next ‘powered by GKD’ walk on 22 March 2025 in Rotterdam:

The first walk from the annual walking program of the wsv RET. And what a walk. This walk will depart from the Sluisjesdijk depot in the Waalhaven for the 5th time.
A great city walk, which has been highly appreciated by many in recent years. For many, it is a highlight of the walk to walk through the Maastunnel under the Maas! If you find it scary to walk through the pedestrian tunnel, you can also take the water taxi.
Then along beautiful parts of the city of Rotterdam. Delfshaven, the Euromast, the Markthal. You will pass through or along them all. To finally leave for the South via the beautiful Erasmus Bridge to, among others, the SS Rotterdam.
In short: you must have walked it.

Passing of honorary member Bert van der Lans

Like all Four Days Marches enthusiasts, we are shocked by the passing of our honorary member Bert van der Lans. For us, Bert was not only the record holder with 71 successfully completed Four Days Marches, but also a former committee member who left a great mark on our association. Bert was active as an organizer within our association and was happy to help with our activities. On the 50th anniversary of our association, he co-wrote the anniversary book and later he surprised the association with a new banner and replicas of the original sheet music of the Four Days Marches March. Bert and the Four Days Marches were inextricably linked.

We will miss Bert and wish his relatives much strength with this loss.
